5.0 out of 5 stars clever book December 14, 2014

By Cathy-Ann A.
Format: Kindle Edition

This is a nice little book that will make you think about the water you're drinking. I would like to see more reserch/references in the book. For example the statment: "The alkaline water industry is now extremely profitable and has become so by making false medical claims that alkaline water can cure a myriad of diseases and prevent many others." This is true, and it should be mentioned that "Human blood stays in a very narrow pH range right around 7.35 - 7.45."
I know people that believe the alkaline diet will keep them from getting cancer, or cure them! No, if it actually changed their PH balance it would kill them!!! Meanwhile how are they stressing their bodies?
I did like the chapters on food and distilled water. But there is no info or advice on buying a home countertop water distiller. Such a hassle to go out and buy gallon after gallon of water and all those plastic bottles!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars From The Inside Out January 21, 2015

I am a licensed esthetician, and I help people look and feel better. We all know that if we eat nutritious food, we gain healthy glowing skin, from the inside out; and it also helps with skin breakouts, and aids with hydration and keeping wrinkles at bay. It is also very important to know what is in the fluids we drink. We think water is very healthy, but do we really know what is in it? Surprisingly, it could be like smoking a cigarette or worse, without our knowledge!! This information is very helpful, for our over- all health and our skin. The Beauty Industry is selling Billions on makeup and skincare to help us keep looking younger. Drinking the right water will do it naturally, again from the inside out! I am amazed at the information, this book has about water! AWESOME!!! Read & Learn ----then D-R-I-N-K- to your HEALTH!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Change Your Water - Change Your Life January 25, 2015

By Alpine Doug
Format: Kindle Edition

It was suggested that I read "Distilled Water and Health" because I have suffered for years from kidney stones. I have lost 80% of the function in my right kidney because of it. After reading the book, I know now that the water that I've been drinking has likely been the source of my kidney stones, and that fasting with distilled water can actually reverse the damage.   Thank you, Mr. Hoover!
If you're interested in making the greatest possible impact on your health at the lowest cost, then this book should be on your "must read" list.

Even as a physician, this book was an eye opener. We were not taught this information in medical school. It just makes so much sense. I started to increase my water intake and have seen dramatic change. Weight loss, more movement in my joints without pain not needing to take pain meds and having less pain from fibromyalgia. They key is like Mr. Hoover says you have to prepare yourself mentally to live a HEALTHY life and stick to pure water. It's made a difference in my life as well as my wife's

5.0 out of 5 stars Clear Water is not always clearly good for you-unless distilled February 15, 2015

By J. Jax

Format: Kindle Edition

Life to its fullest is a term we all like to associate with are experiences. I just never really associated that with my efforts to drinking alleged best marketed bottled water. This book in plain terms pulls back the curtain on why Distilled Water is at the root of good health. I will never look at water the same, and neither should anyone else!

This is a must read book if you interested in understanding the importance of water and your health. Douglas Hoover has written a comprehensive, easy to read book you will want to review over and over!. It will make you think differently about what you are drinking and how it affects your health and vitality!

Book Description

Publication Date: December 12, 2015

This book will expose the myths and falsehoods while revealing the truths about water quality and its relationship to health and longevity.

Think of what you need to merely survive. Food? Water? Air? Cell phones? Obviously, by the book's title, I'm going to concentrate on water. Water is of major importance to all living things; in some organisms, up to 90% of their body weight comes from water. Up to 60-70% of the human body is water, the brain is composed of over 70-72% water, and the lungs nearly 90%. Lean muscle tissue contains about 75% water by weight, as is the brain; body fat contains 10-12% water and bone has 20-22% water. About 83% of our blood is water, which helps digest our food, transport waste, and control body temperature. Each day humans must replace 2.5 to 3 qts. of water lost through the excretory system, with most of it replaced through drinking, and the rest from our foods.

This is a statement used countless times, usually from literature from some filter companies trying to tell you, in effect, that their filters take out all the bad contaminants, but leave in the good, beneficial minerals. Fortunately, there are many reputable companies who would never think of making this kind of claim in their ads.
Distillation will kill and remove bacteria, viruses, cysts, as well as heavy metals, radionuclides, organics, inorganics, and particulates. And, yes, it will also remove minerals which will fall under inorganic contaminants. Whether the minerals in water are beneficial or useless has been an ongoing debate. All of our minerals are derived from our food: fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, poultry, grains, nuts and dairy products. The minerals in water are so scant that in Boston, Massachusetts, for example, in order to obtain the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA), one would have to drink:

Glasses of Tap water
(RDA) Recommended Daily Allowance:

676 glasses (8-oz./236.5 ml)

1,848 glasses (8-oz./236.5 ml)

848 glasses (8-oz./236.5 ml)

168,960 glasses (8-oz./236.5 ml)

It seems insane to even think about drinking that much water. Most people cannot even drink the recommended 8 glasses of water a day that is widely advocated by health experts.
When you think of pure water, what definition comes to your mind? It should be just H²0 and that’s all. It’s not H²0 with minerals and fluoride, because that doesn’t fit the description of pure water. For all intents and purposes, distilled water comes closest to the definition of pure drinking water. The process of distillation removes the broadest range of contaminants over any point of use (POU) system.

What the proponents of this Myth want you to believe is that because distilled water is so pure, drinking it will leach minerals from your body, thereby robbing you of good health and nutrition. There is no basis of fact to document this claim. The national best-seller health and diet book: “Fit for Life II: Living Health” by Harvey and Marilyn Diamond, answers this question in the following excerpt:

“Distilled water has an inherent quality. Acting almost like a magnet, it picks up rejected, discarded and unusable minerals and, assisted by the blood and the lymph, carries them to the lungs and kidneys for elimination from the body. The statement that distilled water leaches minerals from the body has no basis in fact. It doesn't leach out minerals that have become part of the cell structure. It can’t and it won’t. It collects only minerals that have already been rejected or excreted by the cells . . . To suggest that distilled water takes up minerals from foods so that the body derives no benefit from them is absurd.”

So it only stands to reason that the quality and quantity of water we replace daily has a direct bearing on our health and longevity.

Distilled Water & Health  by Douglas C. Hoover

Water is the most important element on earth next to oxygen, you cannot live much

longer than 5 or 6 days without water. Water is to our bodies as gas and oil are to our

car. If the engine doesn't receive enough oil it begins to overheat and the various parts

begin to wear down and as a consequence, if any one part on an engine fails the whole

                                                                engine is affected.

Pure water regulates body temperature by causing us to sweat and as the sweat evaporates                                                                     heat is pulled from our skin and water moistens our tissues such as those in the mouth, eyes,

nose and throat. Water protects body organs and tissues, lubricates joints, prevents constipation                                                              and carries nutrients and oxygen to the cells and carries away waste for elimination.
An adequate supply of healthy clean water decreases the load on the liver and kidneys by flushing toxic                                  waste material. Pure water dissolve minerals and nutrients allowing them to be utilized by our bodies and aids the in muscles becoming more elastic or flexible.

If pure clean water is that critical for the health of every bodily cell, how important would it be in regards to the water's quality? Would it make sense to attempt to wash your dishes in a sink of dirty water? Of course not, and neither does it make sense to drink dirty water and expect it to clean your cellular system. I'll cover the relationship more thoroughly later on.

So why drink distilled?

Distilled water is the only water that can be called Water (H2O) a molecule of 2 parts Hydrogen and 1 part Oxygen period. Plus nothing more! All other "water" is actually H2O plus something. That "something" could be whatever that water came in contact with and was able to dissolve, absorbing and retain.

In nature, water is heated by the sun causing it to turn to its gaseous form, evaporating, rising into the upper atmosphere, cooling and condensing into tiny droplets and gathering to form clouds. As the droplets cool further, the molecules clump together becoming heavy and fall back to earth as distilled water (this process is called the hydrological cycle). Unfortunately, our atmosphere is polluted by ozone, particulate matter, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide.

Unfortunately, by the time this pure distilled water reaches the earth, it is now H20+volatile organic compounds(VOCs) +NOx + CO+ numerous carcinogenic chemicals. But it doesn't stop there, after the mildly polluted water reaches earth its begins on a journey of absorbing and dissolving everything it contact with on the surface of the ground prior to soaking into the soil or running off into storm drains. At this stage, this once pristine water cleans the oil, dust, dirt and toxic residue off the streets, highways and parking lots, including fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides, herbicides from yards, gardens and farmlands and the list goes on. There is not one stream, river lake or underground aquifer that is pollution free. Guess where the food and beverage processing industry, cities or municipalities get their water? You guessed it, those same rivers, lakes and ground water.

Why guess, hope and wonder when it comes to your health? Drink Distilled Water, live healthier and longer.
